General questions
This may cover all or a mixed areas of 'advert layouts', 'vacancy search pages' and 'onboarding'.
How can we link these pages/sites to our website?
The logo at the top & bottom of your modules/ Networx hosted recruitment sites can be linked to any public website if you provide the URL to the design team. By default, they open in a new tab when clicked.
Where can we put contact information/links like a ‘privacy policy’ or email address?
This information is typically added into the footer and on our sites, we have a ‘rich text’ area below the logo and below the social media links.
I have an infographic with charts/text/graphics on. Will these images be suitable for the page designs and the user?
We highly recommend not using any infographics in your recruitment modules for accessibility reasons. We aim to keep your content accessible to all users, including people with visual and/or hearing impairments, learning disabilities, and many more. Infographics are not recognised by technology such as screen readers, which then limits the applicant base for your sites. To read our full Accessibility Statement, please click here. We do provide alternate methods to reconfigure infographics, such as the use of icons/ text / accordions, effectively separating information and content to suit all applicants. If you are insistent on using infographics, however you will need to confirm via email confirmation that you are happy to opt out of being accessible to all applicants.
We have a lot of accreditations/awards on our website. Can we replicate these on the module designs and is there a limit?
If you provide the awards/accreditations as .png logos then we will be able to add these to the footers of your page designs. There is a maximum of 5 logos per footer.
We would like to display a set of photos of the workplace on our vacancies. Is there a component that can do this and how many photos can I send across?
Currently we have a Carousel that can hold up to 5 accessible photos that the user can ‘slide’ through. We are working on different components that will have a similar purpose and possibly hold more images so watch this space!
We have sent across our brand guidelines as instructed. How do you implement the branding to these page designs?
All of your site designs are universally branded through a structured part of the system, meaning that the colours chosen will pull through in all designs. Each brand contains 1 logo, 1 google font & 2 colours; Primary & Secondary. These will be chosen from your brand guidelines if not specified but can be updated throughout the process. Please be advised, any brand changes will affect all design modules/ Networx hosted recruitment sites of the system.
Can the colours be changed on specific areas of the designs? (buttons/accordions etc)
Most of the customisable components have the option to change the colours between your Primary and Secondary colours, and we also have some default alternatives such as Success Green, Black and White. Common colour changes involve icons, header titles, banner fades and more.
Advert layouts
These are your advert layouts that populate from a list when you are creating a vacancy or updating a vacancy template.
If you need to know how to update your vacancy template, please refer to help hub as 'Vacancy templates' and 'Advert layouts' are not the same thing. Keeping it simple, 'Advert layouts' actually feed into your 'Vacancy templates'.
What can be customized in an advert layout?
Our layouts and templates are customisable but not bespoke, so the main rule-of-thumb is design changes are done by the Design Team and on a Replace/Add/Remove basis. As mentioned in the GENERAL section of this FAQ page, most customisations involved changing the colour, editing text, and replacing imagery.
Here is a list of some of the common changes requested for an advert layout:
- Colour changes to: ‘Perks bar’, Banner gradient, Apply Button, Icons.
- Image replacement for the banner
- Text replacement for all components available
- Video URL replacement for the video
Can we request an additional /replacement component if the default doesn’t suit our content on our advert layout?
Absolutely. This can be done via the FORM we will send you in the first step of the system design setup process. Here you will be able to update us with the correct content required and choose the 2 design components you wish to use in the advert layout.
What ‘design components’ are available?
You will have a wide choice of components in the FORM sent across to you, however you can also see these on our Global Components UTILS page here.
What are your size specifications for the advert layout banner images?
For the best results, we recommend a minimum size of 1200 x 350 px at 72 dpi. Images should not include any text or infographics for accessibility reasons. Banner size required & Image focus may vary dependent on the screen size and the advert layout chosen. Please refer to our UTILs site for full media specifications. If your using ‘Spotlight’ for example, the banner image size is different (1550 x 550px).
On the MODERN advert layout it shows a video banner! What are your specifications for this and how do we send it to you?
If you want to send us a video banner, this needs to be approx. 1200 x 350px frame size, in an .mp4 format and no more than 3mb in size.
On the MODERN/2 advert layouts there is a thin colour bar at the top with text on. What is this used for, and can it be removed?
We call this our PERKS BAR, with the main purpose of displaying three key phrases/benefits/values of the role to attract the potential applicant. On the initial FORM received, you will be asked if this is required, the content needed, or if you would like it removed.
There is a coloured gradient over the banner image. Can this be removed?
While this isn’t possible for the MODERN design, we have created the MODERN2 advert layout with a full-span banner and the capability to remove the colour-fade if requested. Can we have different content for different vacancies?
I have many different departments that have different benefits/information for our vacancies. What are my options if I want different FIXED information for the roles.
To have different content per vacancy, (that’s not included in the VACANCY text) you will need to purchase multiple advert layouts. We can then customise each advert layout for the type of role; driving, office, sales, etc, adding different benefits, videos, and banner images. Then once the designs are approved, you will be able to choose which advert layout you want to use at vacancy creation, almost like your own library of designs!
We have our own promotional videos created in-house. Can we include these?
All you would need to do is upload your video to Youtube or Vimeo, making sure the settings allow the video to be embedded and are not set to private. Please check these settings before you send us a link.
I have a different number of benefits/Values/icons than the advert layout I have chosen. What is the maximum number of icons we can have, and can we use our own?
Technically there is no limit to the amount of icons & text, however we recommend taking into account the amount of scrolling the user may end up doing on a mobile device. We can arrange these in rows of 3 or 4 with a small amount of text under each icon. We have a great range of Font awesome icons available that we will choose for you unless stated, however if you do wish to use your own icons these can be sent across to us attached to an email (.png, square format please).
Vacancy Downloads/Docs: Where will these show as I can’t see them in the design preview?
The vacancy attachments/ downloads are available via a quick navigation button at the top of the page, which then takes the user to where they need to download the documents (just above the footer). These will only show when added at vacancy level.
I understand that MERGE FIELDS pull through the vacancy dependencies (SALARY/LOCATION etc.), but can I add more than what is shown in the preview?
All of the advert layouts have a maximum of 4 merge fields. The Implementation Team can help you set these up in the system if you are having trouble.
I want to update my Vacancy templates, how do I do this?
Please refer to the ‘Networx Help Hub’ (when logged into the system) for full information on ‘Vacancy templates’. ‘Vacancy templates’ are not the same as ‘Advert layouts’. The advert layout is the design that the design team work on, ’Vacancy templates’ are what you (the user posting vacancies) can update. Once ‘Advert layout’ design complete these synchronize to your ‘Vacancy Templates’ & ‘Vacancies’. When you are selecting an advert design for your vacancy, these originate from the ‘Advert layouts’.
Vacancy search page
Vacancy Search Pages come in two forms. A single page vacancy search page that the only amendable components are the text and images. The other form is the multipage microsite where the only difference is there are multiple content pages added, where you can add content components.
What is customisable on the Search/Landing page?
The visual focus area here is the banner image. This can be replaced by sending across an accessible image at 1200 x 350px.
The design team can also:
- Replace title and paragraph text on the banner
- Hide/change the search filters (Location/Salary/Disciplines etc.)
- The colour of the banner fade/button/result title/icons
We have multiple brands; how do users know which department/company the role is for?
We do offer a service that will add the brand logo on the results box for the vacancy. You can also customise your search filter to DEPARTMENTS so the user can choose which one they would want results for.
Can we have a third filter option?
Unfortunately not, the search is limited to 'Keyword' & two filters.
However it is possible to reduce the filters to just the one, or remove them in fully, keeping the 'Keyword' search.
The entire search can be hidden if not needed, as 'search' results load automatically.
We dont advertise specific salaries on our vacancies. Can we remove the two search filters?
Filters can be removed or changed upon request.
We want our potential candidates to know more about the company. Can we add extra content?
We do offer a CONTENT PAGE service where you can add up to 4 more pages, making your single search page into a multipage microsite! There are various ways you can display your content as shown in this microsite example here. Please speak with your CRM if this is an option you would like to consider.
Can we replace the image that sits behind the search function?
You can send an accessible replacement image across to the Design Team (.jpg file 1200 x 350px, no infographics). Lifestyle/people imagery is recommended, with the fade-colour allowing the banner text to be as clear and accessible as possible. The image can also be replaced with a block colour if required.
Can we add an image or a video to this search page?
To keep the purpose of the page clear, these additional components can only be added via a purchased content page, available via your CRM.
Can we remove the colour overlay that goes over the banner image?
This is not recommended due to the accessibility of the page, specifically the banner text. We can reduce the opacity of the fade depending on the nature and colour balance of the image.
Can we change the order of the vacancies available?
Yes the order can be changed. These are the options available:
Title Ascending
Title Descending
Created Date Ascending
Created Date Descending
Expiry Date Ascending
Expiry Date Descending
Vacancy ID Ascending
Vacancy ID Descending
Live Date Ascending
Live Date Descending
Can I add multiple content pages/ tabs to my vacancy search page?
Yes you can, however they do cost extra per page. If you are interested in this please email the client work team & if you know your CRM, please CC them in asking us exactly what your wanting and a purchase order will be raised.
Can we add more paragraphs of text?
On this search page you can only replace what is currently there.
Can job vacancy results show on a content page as well as the search page?
Vacancy results are only available on the search page, as the content pages are designed for standard website content only.
Onboarding
Onboarding also comes in two forms. A single page only onboarding tasks page, where the amendable items are most of the text and images. No content components can be added on the tasks page. The other onboarding are additional content pages that can be purchased and added to the existing tasks page, this is where additional content components can be added.
Can I change the banner image?
Yes all banner images can be replaced. Please provide a lifestyle image or equivalent with no text or readable graphics on them. This is because the banners change shape and crop to the variety of screen sizes currently available including mobile, other words 'responsive web design'.
Can the banner height be adjusted?
The banner height has a set minimum height and scales depending on the amount of text that is placed over the top. However it is entirely possible to actually increase the overall minimum height, if you are wanting to make more of a feature of this.
Can we remove the colour overlay/ fade that goes over the banner image?
This is not recommended due to the accessibility of the page, specifically the banner text. We can reduce the opacity of the fade depending on the nature and colour balance of the image.
We have a video of our office. Can this be used in the banner instead of an image?
Mp4 looped videos can be used for the banner of the onboarding portal pages. These need to be no longer than 10-12 seconds looped with no sound and kept to a similar frame size (1200px x 350px) at 3-4 mb in size.
We want our potential candidates to know more about the company. Can we add extra content?
We do offer a CONTENT PAGE service where you can add up to 4 more pages, making your onboarding portal into a multipage microsite! There are various ways you can display your content as shown in this microsite example here. Please speak with your CRM if this is an option you would like to consider.
Can we change the icons in the ‘First Day Details’ section?
We use Font awesome 5.15.4 icons in our modules. If you need a replacement icon, please feel free to reach out to us at clientworkdesign@iris.co.uk and we can suggest an alternative, or feel free to browse yourself!
Can we change the wording in the ‘First Day Details’ section?
Any wording you see in this section can be changed absolutely! However for best results, we would recommend to sticking to the same equivalent length.
Is it possible to change the order of the actions and documents that we upload into the system?
Design can not control the order of how your documents appear.
How do we add/remove an Action/Document that shows on the portal?
Design do not control this area. Depending on how you have had your system set-up, you may be able to update documents yourself.
Actions to complete is 'supplemental information' which you will need to speak to a Implementation consultant regards to this.
Is it possible to remove/re-order the dropdown/accordions?
We are able to re-order and remove any of the 3 accordions if required. The warning icon can also be removed if not appropriate.
Can I change the background colour of the accordion dropdown bars to match our brand?
We can change the dark background colour to your PRIMARY or SECONDARY colour if requested and if it is accessible to do so.
We don’t need the ‘before you start’ image and paragraph section. Can this be removed?
Yes, not a problem.
Can you swap the ‘Before You Start’ image for a video?
As long as it is a PUBLIC Youtube/Vimeo URL, this is possible.
Multi-Branding
We have a few different multi-branding options and an separate section on this subject (see 'Branding' in the navigation).onboarding tasks page, where the amendable items are most of the text and images. No content components can be added on the tasks page. The other onboarding are additional content pages that can be purchased and added to the existing tasks page, this is where additional content components can be added.
We are a franchise with multiple top-level companies. Can we have multiple logos showing across our sites?
We do not recommend having a long multi-image logo as your single top-level brand. From a user perspective, this may confuse a potential candidate regarding to department placement within the company.
You would be better utilising your separate brand logos elsewhere (like purchasing available multiple subsidiary brands for example), for more information on this, see our entire section on ‘Branding’ on the navigation panel top left of your screen.
How does Multi-branding work if we purchase it?
Any sub-company/department branding can be added on its own structure level to give all candidates a clearer recruitment journey. Just like your main brand you will be able to send across a logo & brand guidelines for the Design Team to add to your chosen structure of the business, effectively overriding an existing single advert layout design (logo and system primary/ secondary colour settings) when you create a vacancy in that structure.
Each of our sub-brands are quite unique. Can we change the content of our advert layout to suit this?
Along with Multi-brand, you can also purchase multiple advert layouts to suit each sub-brand / department. The design team will copy the original advert layout and then change the fixed content such as banner images, icons, and text at your request.
How can we show our other brands within our vacancy search page?
Once the Multi-brand functionality is purchased, this can extend to having a logo in the results card on the Vacancy Search Page. Please see an example here.
Can we show our sub-brands on our Vacancy Search (Career Search) pages and or Onboarding?
Both the Vacancy Search and Onboarding sites work a bit differently to your advert layouts, which means if you want entirely branded Vacancy Search and Onboarding sites to have your sub-brand logos in, you will need to purchase additional versions of these from your CRM representative.
If you do purchase these as an extra, we will build and help design these for you, just like before with your existing sites.
We have a logo that we want to show in additional to our existing brand logo to show our sub-brand
This we can add in as an additional image component inside the content area, however only on 'Advert layouts' and 'content' pages only on 'Vacancy Search' and 'Onboarding'.
We have a single page search page, but we want to make it clear that the different vacancies are from different sub-brands
We offer this functionality, as this helps identify which brand the vacancy is related too.
If this is needed, please provide to us a brand logo in an .SVG/ high quality .png format (See Brand set-up or FAQ's of what''s needed).
For this exact scenario see our multi-brand page (lower half of page titled 'Other Multibrand options?') on UTILS for more info and examples of how it looks.
